It is frustrating, but not surprising, that Arizona lawmakers still cannot pull together a strong plan for managing our water. While we understand that water policy is complicated, delay only makes our future harder. Lawmakers, especially Gail Griffin, must stop hiding behind small bills that do little to solve the real problems. We need a full, statewide groundwater policy now. Governor Katie Hobbs must lead from the front — not just with her veto pen, but with bold proposals that can unite the legislature and rural communities like ours.
